I think Gatton's is the definitive guitar-led version of this, the REAL "Harlem Nocturne." Just a thing of beauty. For confusion's sake, Duran y Garcia recorded a completely different song called "Harlem Nocturne," and Alicia Keys one called "Harlem's Nocturne."

Great to hear, but no solo. Listen to this on "Cruisin' Deuces" with his Telecaster frenzy solo. It will just blow your mind it is SO GREAT!!! God bless you Danny wherever you are for bringing such musical joy into this often miserable world....

mbenz380 great story. I read Danny played with Jack Cassidy of the Jefferson Airplane in the early 60's in the DC area. Imagine Cassidy jammed with Gatton and Hendrix!!!mastercollector/gattonmaster

I grew up with Danny. We graduated from Oxon Hill High School (1963) in Maryland. Danny used to play at a bar called Billy Jacks a lot. Billy Jacks was owned by Billy Underwood and others who also graduated with us. Danny we love you and R.I.P. We will miss you forever. Matt

I met Danny in 93, while on the first date with my wife. Our first waltz was "In My Room". He sat at the table with us greasers, and talked hotrod. He autographed a tele for me at the end of the show. Nice guy and he had cool sewn up. RIP |
